I am a figurative artist. Drawing has always been the basis and backbone of my artistic vision. I always draw the human figure, landscapes, animals and anything that belongs to the natural world as I search for new ways of expression. I intend to follow this path as I continue to work on the tradition know for it commitment to line and form. Aside from that I rather not be catalogued under any specific style.
To confront my own nature I return from time to time to the self-portrait. I don’t talk much about my work and I rather have my artworks speak for myself.
My influences are, first and foremost, a mix of a Latin-American and European upbringing along with their art and culture. There is also a strong American influence because I have lived in Boston for over 30 years. Having lived in Colombia, the U.S.A, and Germany, I currently reside in Boston and work a lot in Bogotá, where aside from commission work, I find myself picking up all those experiences to give birth to new series of oil paintings and drawings.
Soy un artista figurativo. El dibujo siempre ha sido la base y la columna vertebral de mi visión artística. Dibujo constantemente la figura humana, paisajes, animales y cualquier cosa del mundo natural en busca de nuevas formas de expresión. Pienso seguir por este camino mientras continuo trabajando dentro de la tradición conocida por su compromiso con el dibujo y la linea. Aparte de esto, prefiero no ser categorizado bajo ningún estilo específico.
Para confrontar mi propia naturaleza vuelvo de vez en cuando al autorretrato. No hablo mucho de mi obra y prefiero que ella hable por mí.
Mis influencias son, ante todo, una mezcla de educación latinoamericana y europea junto con su arte y culturas. También hay una fuerte influencia estadounidense después de vivir más de treinta años en Boston. Habiendo vivido en Colombia, Alemania, los Estados Unidos y de nuevo trabajando en Colombia, me encuentro reuniendo todos estos fragmentos de mi vida para dar a luz nuevas series de pinturas al óleo y dibujos.
